AI Automation

AI automation that saves real time, starting with a clear plan.

I'm Chris Payne. I help small and medium businesses find the repetitive work worth automating, then build and support the workflows that take it off your team. I trained as an AI and automation workflow specialist on a Level 4 apprenticeship with Cambridge Spark, and I bring the same plain-English, priorities-first approach as my Visibility Review.

Start with a review

Find the work worth automating before anything is built.

Most businesses do not need more AI tools. They need to know which tasks are worth automating, which are better left to people, and what could go wrong. The review answers those questions first, so you are not paying to automate the wrong thing.

You get a ranked list of automation opportunities with the effort, the risks and the likely time saved for each, and a plan for what to do first.

Common problems

Where small businesses lose time.

01 Copying data between tools

Information is typed or pasted from one system into another, which is slow and easy to get wrong.

02 Important messages get missed

High volumes of email or enquiries make it easy for the one that matters to be buried.

03 Reports built by hand

The same weekly or monthly report is rebuilt manually from the same sources every time.

04 AI used without a process

People use AI tools ad hoc, with no rules for what data goes in or who checks what comes out.

What I review

What the review looks at.

The review covers the tasks your team repeats, the tools and data involved, how often each task happens and how long it takes, and what the consequences are if it goes wrong.

Each task is rated for fit: suitable for automation, suitable with a person checking the result, or better left alone.

Example

An email scanner for school correspondence.

One workflow I built scans incoming email and picks out everything relevant to particular year groups and classes, so nothing important is missed.

The same pattern fits any business that has to sort and route a high volume of messages, such as enquiries, supplier emails or customer requests.

What you get

What you get from an AI Automation Review.

  • Opportunity list - the tasks worth automating, ranked by time saved and effort.
  • Risk and data check - what data each workflow touches and where a person needs to check the output.
  • Tool recommendations - what you can build with tools you already have and what, if anything, you would need to add.
  • A first workflow to build - a scoped starting point with a clear quote.
  • A plain-English plan - written for the people who approve the work as well as those who use it.

FAQ

AI automation questions.

What kinds of work can be automated?

Repetitive admin is the usual starting point: sorting and routing email, copying data between tools, building weekly reports, checking documents against a list, and drafting first-pass responses for a person to review.

Do I need to buy new software?

Often not. Many workflows can be built with tools you already use, such as Google Workspace, spreadsheets and forms. The review says what is needed and what it would cost before anything is built.

Will this replace my staff?

No. The aim is to remove repetitive steps so people spend time on work that needs judgement. Anything customer-facing or high-risk keeps a person checking the output.

How do you handle data and mistakes?

Every workflow starts with a plain question: what data does it touch, where does a person check the result, and what happens when it gets something wrong. Personal data is kept out of AI tools unless there is a clear reason and a safe way to use it.

How much does it cost?

The AI Automation Review starts from £750. Builds are quoted per workflow once the review has shown what is worth doing, and ongoing support is scoped monthly. You will know the cost before you commit to the next step.
