Google measures title width in pixels. A title that looks short can still be too wide if it uses characters like W, M or @ which are wider than average.
Title tag quick reference
Under 350px
Short title. You may have room to add more keyword context or location.
350–460px
Ideal range for most titles. Clear and won't be cut on any device.
460–580px
Desktop is fine but may truncate on some mobile views. Review carefully.
Over 580px
Will be cut with "…" on desktop Google. Shorten or restructure.
Note: even titles within the limit may be rewritten by Google if the algorithm decides a different title better matches search intent. Length alone does not guarantee display.
